Aurora; Aurore [aw-ROAR-ah; aw-ROAR]
White-wine grape that is one of the most widely planted varieties in the northeastern United States, where the cool climate suits its early ripening properties. Aurora is a French-American hybrid, officially known as Seibel hybrid 5279. It’s used to make sparkling wines, as well as off-dry, still wines.
