Cortona DOC [kohr-TOH-nah]
A DOC zone located in the Tuscany region just north of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and close to the Tuscany-umbria border. Cortona allows varietal wines containing a minimum of 85 percent of the variety and is establishing a name for Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah. This area also produces Vin Santo from Trebbiano, Grechetto, and/or Malvasia.
