Elba DOC [EHLL-bah]
DOC zone on the island of Elba, which is located off the coast of (and is considered part of) Italy’s Tuscany region. The island is famous as the place where Napoleon was exiled. Elba’s bianco wines are produced mainly from Trebbiano and Procanico grapes—a spumante version may also be made. Their rosso wine is made from a blend of at least 75 percent Sangiovese, plus Canaiolo, Trebbiano, and Biancone.
