La Tâche AC [lah TAHSH]

A grand cru vineyard that produces what some consider to be the epitome of a red Burgundy wine. Some even rank it ahead of that of the neighboring Romanée-Conti. The nearly 15-acre vineyard is located in the village of Vosne-Romanée in the Côte de Nuits. La Tache produces more wine than the 41⁄2-acre Romanée-Conti, and its prices are not quite as high (although they’re still some of the most expensive wines in the world). Like Romanée-Conti, La Tâche is wholly owned by the domaine de la Romanée-Conti. When young, La Tâche AC wines are richer, more intense, and more deeply colored than those from the Romanée-Conti vineyard, and they possess some of the latter’s exotic spiciness.
