Lison-Pramaggiore DOC [LEE-zawn prah-mahd-JAW-ray]

Created in 1986, this new DOC includes the old DOCs of Tocai di Lison, Cabernet di Pramaggiore, and Merlot di Pramaggiore. It’s located in the eastern part of Italy’s Veneto region, with a tiny portion in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. In creating the new DOC, the authorities included numerous additional wines. The DOC now covers a total of twelve varietal wines—Cabernet (made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc), Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Bianco (Pinot Blanc), Pinot Grigio (Pinot Gris), Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso (Refosco), Riesling Italico (Welschriesling), Sauvignon (Sauvignon Blanc), Tocai, and Verduzzo Friulano.
