Maréchal Foch [MAH-ray-shahl FOHSH]

This red grape, officially known as Kuhlmann 1882, is a widely grown French-American hybrid. It’s a cross of Goldriesling and an American vitis riparia–vitis rupestris vine, the same parents of Leon Millot. Maréchal Foch is cultivated in the eastern United States and Canada (where it is often simply called Foch), but it is rarely found in France today. It produces light, beaujolais-like red wines.
