Marcillac AC [mahr-see-LYAHK]

A small appellation located in Southwest France east of the Cahors AC. The area produces red and rosé wines from at least 90 percent of the Fer grape, blended with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and/or Merlot. young wines can be tannic with good amounts of acidity but as they age and soften have a peppery, perfumed quality.
