Montlouis AC [mawn-LWEE]
appellation that surrounds the village of Montlouis, which is located in the Touraine area of France’s Loire region, directly across the Loire River from Vouvray. The wines are similar to those from Vouvray, although they are usually not quite as rich. Chenin Blanc is the only grape allowed in the wines of this AC. The wines can range from dry to sweet, and be still, pétillant, or sparkling (mousseux).
