Ozark Mountain AVA

Established in 1986, this huge American Viticultural Area covers some 3,500,000 acres in portions of three states—southern Missouri, northwestern Arkansas, and northeastern Oklahoma. A number of smaller AVAs reside within its boundaries—Altus and Arkansas Mountain in Arkansas and Augusta, Hermann, and Ozark Highlands in Missouri. The area is so large that there is no representative wine style for the varied climatic and soil conditions that exist.
