Seyssel [seh-SEHL]
One of the best-known villages in France’s Savoie region, Seyssel is located just southwest of Lake Geneva on the Rhône River, not far from the Swiss border. Seyssel produces white still wines under the Seyssel AC and sparkling wines under the Seyssel mousseux AC. The grapes used are Altesse (locally called Roussette) and a local variety Molette, which lends an interesting peppery character. Most of these wines should be drunk young.
