University of California, Davis
The small town of Davis is located in northern California just west of Sacramento. It’s home to the University of California, Davis, and its well-known viticulture and enology Department. In addition to training a mulitude of today’s top winemakers, this department is a leader in many areas of research and development including grape varieties and their clones, rootstocks, vineyard diseases (see diseases, vineyard), and winemaking techniques.
