Verdicchio di Matelica DOC [vehr-DEEK-kyoh dee mah-TAY-lee-kah]
Another DOC that produces wines based on the Verdicchio grape. It’s located south of the better-known Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi DOC in central Italy’s Marches region. The wines of these two DOCs are similar, although some believe that the Matelica wines are more full-bodied (see body). In addition to Verdicchio, the wines can also contain up to 15 percent of Malvasia and Trebbiano grapes.
