Verduzzo; Verduzzo Friulano [vehr-DOOT-soh froo-LAH-noh]
A white-wine grape indigenous to Italy’s Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Verduzzo is best known for its amabile (semisweet) and dolce (sweet) wines, which exhibit floral and rich honey characteristics, balanced by good acidity. The best of these sweet wines comes from the Ramandolo DOCG. Verduzzo is also used in the production of dry white wines. The Verduzzo Trevigiano grown in Italy’s Veneto region is thought to be a different variety.
