Vougeot AC [voo-ZHOH]
The village of Vougeot, which is located in the Côte de Nuits area of Burgundy, is most often associated with the 124-acre grand cru vineyard, Clos de Vougeot. There are about 40 other acres in this appellation, split between the village vineyards and several premier cru vineyards. The premier cru of Les Petits Vougeots and its subvineyard of Clos de la Perrière are thought to be the best. Most of the wine is red, made from Pinot Noir, although there’s a small amount of white made from Chardonnay. These white wines are produced from the premier cru vineyard Le clos blanc and labeled Clos Blanc de Vougeot.
