clos [KLOH]
French for “closed” or “enclosed,” usually expanded to mean “enclosed field” or “enclosed vineyard.” This term, generally associated with Burgundy, may not appear on a French wine label unless a vineyard by that name produces and bottles the wine—for example, Clos de la Roche or Clos de Vougeot.
