fat
A positive descriptor sometimes used for wine that, although concentrated, rich, and high in glycerol, has low to average acidity. The impression on the palate is full and fat. A wine with almost the same qualities, but not in the same concentration, might be referred to as plump. A fat wine with exceedingly low acidity is referred to as flabby. A fat sweet wine can be overwhelmingly unctuous. See also lean.
