proprietary wine
A wine that’s name-branded, as opposed to one that’s sold with the primary identifiers being the winery or varietal. For example, Sassicaia (see Bolgheri DOC) is the proprietary name for a Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend produced by Italy’s Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta estate.
