I love comparing wine to old movies. When I was growing up Ralph Macchio had me by the heart strings. . . and as I have gotten older, it seems to be that I crush more on wine now than I ever did on boys. Albarino is such a unique white wine grape. To be certain it is in my top 3. Eric Laumann really won me over here. The attack of ruby red grapefruit on the nose is intoxicating. I could smell this for days. It's so fresh and so crisp with a hint of spice (think mulling spices - not hot pepper spices). On your palate it is very direct in it's approach with this great lemon peel flavor. It's straightforward with nice acid through to the finish and lush (not soft) mouth feel. (It would have been great with the oysters I had last night!) I probably don't have to say it - but I REALLY enjoyed this wine. And I also like the fact that it was compared to Pablo Neruda and Bach rowing in a boat together. . . ahhhh. Pablo Neruda is my favorite poet.
