The nose reminded me of my grandma's kitchen in the late months of the summer when she made jams for the winter. Rich, blackcurrant reduction sauce on the nose. And this smell is in no way a deception. The taste dutifully fulfills my expectations with rich upfront notes of blackcurrant and other black fruits. There is also a distant fungal aspect reminiscent of some French cheeses, but is mostly overpowered by the fruit. I found the finish to be a little chalky, but in no way did this detract from the overall balance and finish, which coated my mouth without drying it out.
