BBB - Bold Bordeaux Blend!
This wine jumps out with an intensely inky color followed by aromas of herbs and plums, very interesting and complex. Upon drinking you'll be greeted with some blackberries and chalky earth nuances as well. Considering there are only 10 cases of this wine made, and the great price, grab some quick!
Five noble grapes indeed!
The claret of 2004 seemed to be Leidigh's flagship wine, and rightfully so-it was tasty! However the 2005 jumps from that stepping stone into into a smoother and more elegant blend, apparent from the very first sniff, which gives way to more layers of complexity never highlighting on just one distinct flavor. This wine nicely coats the mouth as well, making it a definite improvement on an already great wine.
Delicious Noir
This wine is extremely aromatic. Very intoxicating, and no, not from the alcohol, but from the fullness and richness of aromas permeating from the glass. Already, not your typical Pinot Noir. The taste separates this Pinot from legions of others with it's fruit forwardness, and not so much the earthy components that are typical of Pinots... Particularly the finish is amazing, a very smooth and creamy sensation of toasted nuts that lasts long. Whereas before I was on the fence about Pinot Noirs, Leidigh has re-instilled some excitement about what Pinot Noir can offer!
Dry Creek directed for a flavorful performance
With aromas straddling both in the floral and fruity arenas, the hints of spice and vanilla really had me intrigued. Upon tasting, it was clear, this was my favorite of the four offerings I've tried recently from Francis Ford Coppola. Flavorful cherries and strawberries with spicy notes make this a delicious wine!
