solid cab with a little too much heat
great color. nose of dark ripe cherries, cassis.....yet the nose seems a little hot, and the heat doesn't hit the nose quite like the heat of alcohol, but more in the top and back of the nose. The taste does not reflect the heat of the nose, but carries the flavors of sweet black currant, a smooth, velvety texture. The back end falls apart a bit and is a little salty at the end - probably a yummy wine to have with food....steak anyone?
young prince...
but a little too young....the nose shows promise with hints of cherries and the spice of black pepper, but the mouthfeel hits me with the similar bitterness to that of biting into an orange before peeling it. The oak also has a solid presence. tannins in this wine are a sign that this wine will (and in this case, needs to) age before enjoying this pinot at its full potential...
classic chard...in a good way
we all know that chardonnay is one of the three most popular varietals in the country....by far. we also know that there are way too many cheap, over-oaked, fake chards, so when i say this is a classic card, I am ignoring the majority of the typical chards out there. the nose is tropical and clean with hints of citrus, and the mouthfeel follows the same trend. My favorite part of this wine, is despite its oak barrel fermentation, it does not taste over the top oaky, but rather is very pleasant and crisp...Im not usually a chardonnay fan, but I would gladly drink this one again....
Solid
This is a solid cab. lots of pepper, notes of earth (or dirt), some vegetal tones of cabbage and other mixed greens. The oak also makes a strong appearance leaving notable traces of vanilla on my palate. This wine screams for some food.....
