There is a significant weight and richness to this wine, due largely to the long hang time the fruit experienced this vintage. Though virtually all of the Pinot Noir harvested from Russian River was excellent, we were still very selective about which lots of fruit we’d reserve for this blend, looking to combine those with similar aromatics. Gorgeously textured
with sweet plum, black cherry, and crushed raspberry flavors, the secondary fermentation and French oak aging contribute to this wine’s exotic spice elements and velvety mouthfeel. Intensely fragrant and seamlessly balanced, this wine is generous now, but will develop further with a few years in the cellar.
Pairs nicely with grilled salmon, herb roasted lamb, or mushroom risotto.
blend: 100% Pinot Noir; alcohol: 14.3%; Aged: 9 months in 100% new French oak.

The Appellation and Vineyard
Francis Coppola Reserve 2006 Russian River Pinot Noir hails from Saralee’s Vineyard, a large parcel of land situated just off the river. Its well-drained sandy clay loam soils create an ideal environment for the Dijon clone Pinot Noir grapes that grow there, and contribute greatly to the specific flavors and aromas that have made Russian River Valley Pinot world-famous.
