Viognier (White)
Russian River Valley

The techniques used in crafting this wine can best be described as “cool.” The grapes are harvested in the early morning hours because cool temperatures ensure that the fruit retains its essential acidity. And, the grapes are crushed and fermented at a cool temperature to protect the delicacy of this varietal. Finishing occurs in stainless steel so that the resulting wine maintains its soft, silky texture, luscious aromatics, and bright juicy flavors of peaches, apricots, creamy citrus, and white blossoms. What could be cooler than that?
blend: 100% Viognier; alcohol: 13.9%; Aged: Stainless steel.

The Appellation and Vineyard
Situated only a few miles from the Pacific Ocean, the Russian River Valley experiences fog nearly every afternoon. Not only does this condition serve to lower ambient temperatures by 30-40 degrees in the evening, it works perfectly to slow down the ripening process,
thereby extending the growing season so that the grapes can accumulate concentration by ripening over a longer period of time. Likewise, the cooler weather helps the grapes retain their acidity. As a result, wines that come from the Russian River appellation typically strike a lovely balance between rich, ripe fruit and crisp, natural acidity, which is often hard to achieve in warmer climates.
